Nancy Gray is a professor in the Department of Marketing, W. P. Carey School of Business and the founder and principal of GrayMatter Creative. Nancy received her PhD in the Design, Environment, and the Arts program at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, Arizona State University. Nancy received her Master of Science in Design Degree from Arizona State and Bachelor of Arts Degree from Valparaiso.

Nancy's broad professional background in marketing communications, branding, and design complement her teaching and research initiatives. Working for large organizations and then establishing her own marketing communication and branding firm gives Nancy a perspective of what is necessary to succeed in both established and entrepreneurial environments. Her client base has included firms in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device fields. For Nancy design and marketing is a strategic profession. The goal is to combine aesthetics, technology, business strategy and knowledge into experiences that benefit all audiences – businesses, employees, shareholders, and especially consumers.

Nancy's dissertation, titled, I Create; Therefore, I Am: Design Endeavors as a Signal of Self  is a mixed method investigation of the phenomenon of people who are disequilibrating the command economy through their creative and co-creative actions.
